If you're sourcing curtain wall for a mid-rise commercial project, the first question is always the same: "What's the price per square meter?"

The honest answer? It varies — a lot. I've seen aluminum glass curtain wall quotes range from $70 to $280/m² for what looks like the same thing. Here's what actually drives the difference.

1. Extrusion Profile — The Backbone

The aluminum frame takes up about 30-40% of your material cost. The main variables are wall thickness and surface finish.

• Standard stick curtain wall: 1.4mm-2.0mm wall thickness is enough
• Unitized systems: needs 2.0mm or thicker for structural loads
• Finish: fluorocarbon coating costs 20-30% more than powder coating, but it holds up much better in coastal or high-UV environments

If your project is a high-rise or near the coast, don't cheap out on profiles. The weather will find the weak spots.

2. Glass Configuration — The Biggest Variable

This is where the real price spread comes in. The glass alone can swing your total project cost by 20%:
